We're not in the days of low bandwidth connections, so I think there won't be as large of an interest as there would have been 2 to 3 years ago. A majority of companies have enterprise grade LAN's and WAN's that won't benefit terribly by the compression.
2 years ago I would burn 500MB of data to a CD. Now, I can just upload/download from work to home and vice-versa.
However, data being streamed between continents ... that is another story.
